Following a restructure in the way BP administer their global share plans and the roles and responsibilities of their country co-ordinators, they needed to communicate the changes.
The communication programme had to generate buy-in from the 80 co-ordinators and ensure that they were fully trained in their new role.
On a practical level they needed a way of training the co-ordinators around the world on a new online administration system which would subsequently act as a reference tool when fully operational.
We were approached to create a standalone solution which would enable the audience to gain experience without having to access the live system. We recommended an interactive tutorial which mimicked the actual system on which the coordinators would have to work to perform required tasks. The interactive tutorial is a discrete, self-contained module that can be distributed on CD and requires no internet/network access or database - important as some of the co-ordinators were based in countries with limited internet access. It allows users to experience the system as if it were live, and also builds in task-based help routines.
The interactive tutorial was used during a series of face to face training sessions that were held around the world and a copy was given to each of the country co-ordinators. The training programme was a great success and the interactive tutorial ensured that the co-ordinators could train their colleagues on an ongoing basis.
